Let’s face it, the majority of people reading this are listening to music, just as the majority of people writing things like this are as well. This is because music plays a vital role not just in our day to day activities, but at the height of our culture as well. We hear it everywhere, whether we are actively seeking it out on our mp3 player of if we are in a waiting room of some kind, music will be filling in the silence. As a result, the music industry is a massive one that benefits greatly from the art form’s status in society.
Music finds its way into various forms of life, including film and television. Though they rely heavily on visual arts, it is music that often brings out the most emotion from a scene, either as a softly heard piano track to highlight a sombre mood, or a loud rocking beat to make a tense action scene even more exciting.
Music is a vital art form that fills a large cultural niche and shapes our identities. Many people define themselves by the music they do or don’t listen to. It goes to show that as long as humans exist, there will be music to accompany us.
